How to Avoid Lockdown Burnout

Lockdown can be hard on our productivity levels and mental health. To combat burnout and lockdown fatigue, here are 5 tips to help improve your day-to-day WTF routine.

Start off your day by getting up and being productive (and having breakfast). Write yourself a list of things to achieve to help give yourself guidance and put your brain in a productive mindset. Little wins come from ticking off those tasks, but don’t worry if you can’t get it all done.

Working from home in lockdown can be challenging. Help to separate your home/family environment from your work environment by designating a space to work from (not your bed!).

Breaks are important. We are legally entitled to breaks at work, so it’s no different when you’re at home. Taking breaks can help give your mind and eyes a rest and make yourself be more productive later on. PS. Don’t forget lunch.

During your breaks or after work (or before if you’re disciplined for that!) ensure to get active. Whether it’s a walk around the block, a 15 minute workout or something more hardcore, getting your body moving is an important element to avoid work fatigue and get yourself out of the house.

It’s important to remember that just because you’re at home, doesn’t mean you need to go OTT on the work. Just like designating a workspace, make sure to unplug at the end of the day to establish boundaries. Lockdown is hard - unwind by doing your favourite activity, or simply doing nothing.
